From Wikipedia: The Black Knight is the alias of several fictional characters appearing in American Comic books published by Marvel Comics. The first is a medieval knight created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Joe Maneely. The second is a supervillain descendant of the original, created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist and co-plotter Dick Ayers. The third, created by writer Roy Thomas and artist George Tuska, is the villain's nephew, a superhero and a member of the superhero team the Avengers. A fourth Black Knight, with no revealed genetic connection, debuted in the number 3 of The Black Panther (June 2005), created by writer Reginald Hudlin and penciler John Romita Jr. Bowen Design devoted a fine statue to the third character of such an ancient dynasty (the hero, alias Dane Whitman, who appeared for the first time in number 48 of "The Avengers" in 1968), sculpted by Ulises Cantu and released in 2008 in two version: the blue one, with the more classic blue cape (1200 pieces) and a red variant, in a limited run of 300 samples. The statue depicts the hero in a classic, frontal pose, with both legs slightly bent, the left arm with clenched fist and inflating the powerful bicep and the right one raised upward, holding his long sword. The hero rests on a simple, elliptical base and wears a typical costume with some medieval features: a sort of metallic coverall on arms and legs, long and black boots and gloves with red edges and a close-fitting black waistcoat which points out the well defined abdominals and pectorals (also equipped with a red centered emblem, showing an eagle). The suit is enriched with a large golden belt, the long sheath of the sword and, above all, a wide blue cape strained by the wind, which immediately catch the eyes. The figure is very faithful to the original Comics. The face is partially covered by a rigid, black and gold helmet, characterized by two large openings at eyes, a vertical crest and two circular plates on ears; it is open at the bottom and lets see the open mouth of the hero, ready for battle! Note the details of the cape's creases at neck level, the original coloring of the suit simulating a metallic weave and the golden decoration on helmet and sheath. Due to the marginal role of the character in the Marvel Universe and the rather wide run, the availability of the Black Knight statue on market is quite good and the prices, in general, very affordable. In conclusion, a fine representation of an original and charming hero, useful to enrich the Avengers team in your collection!
